Keith Adair - Chair

Born and schooled in Ipswich, at age 16 Keith joined the RAF to train in the field of Telecommunications. This led to a variety of postings around the world. After marrying in 1970, he and his wife Joyce spent three years in Cyprus, both working at RAF Episkopi.

On leaving the RAF Keith joined British Petroleum with whom he remained until retirement.

In 2006 Keith and Joyce returned to Cyprus, settling in the heritage village of Anogyra. The geology of the island grabbed his interest immediately, leading to a long association with the P3A. His other interests include playing bridge and being part of the technical team for Stage One theatre productions.


Keith McEwen - Vice-Chair and Ad Lib Magazine Editor

Born in Manchester, UK, son of a Grocer. After a successful career in Child Care in Manchester and South London, Keith moved into Corporate Hospitality and the Hotel & Restaurant business mainly in Surrey and Hertfordshire. He served several years on the South East Regional Board (including London) of the British Hospitality Association also the National Board of the Restaurant Assn. of Great Britain.

Keith was involved with the Scout movement as Leader, Commissioner, Gang Show producer and finally as Chairman of Hitchin District in Hertfordshire. With his wife, Marian, he has been a regular visitor to Cyprus for over 30 years and came to live here full time in May 2017 when they had both retired.

John Harper - Treasurer

John qualified as a Chartered Accountant in Jersey.

For most of his working life he has run companies in the Offshore Financial Services sector in the Channel Islands, Bermuda and Mauritius. 

Since retiring in 2007 he regularly travels the globe lecturing mainly in Trust and Company Law and acts as a consultant in trust matters as well as being a trustee and protector of trusts. He is former Group Coordinator, Deputy Chair and Chair of P3A.

John and his wife Tina have been very active in P3A since 2008 and live in Tala.

Dale Ikin - Membership Secretary

Dale served in the Army throughout the world for 35½ years and finished his long career in March 2010. He then took up a General Manager’s role with a specialist engineering firm until he retired to Cyprus with his wife Karen in August 2012.

He joined P3A in January 2014 and has been the membership secretary since May 2015.  

He plays Duplicate Bridge and attends Military History and History.


Marian McEwen - Events Organiser and Ad Lib Editor

Born in Manchester with an English Father and Scottish Mother, Marian has enjoyed the mixed cultures this has provided her.

Having qualified in The Care and Support of Children and Young People her varied career was spent in the Social Care Sector. Moving into Management quite early Marian was instrumental in negotiating contracts and funding.  Setting up specialist support services for Adults with Learning Disabilities and Mental Ill Health, managing Residential, Supported Living and Domiciliary Care Services.

She also has vast experience of working with Government Departments setting up Policy and Practice standards to ensure all the Client Groups could live as independently as possible.

Karen Ikin - Secretary

Karen was a MOD Civil Servant for 12 years until she retired to Cyprus with her husband Dale in August 2012. She has also worked in Nursing Care and as a PA in an accountancy firm.

She joined P3A in July 2014 and is now the group leader for the Basic Family History group, having been the assistant since 2015. 

Apart from Family History, Karen attends History, Military History and Sign Language groups.


Susan Lourensz - Committee member

Born in Rochdale, Susan graduated as a maths teacher in 1985. She worked at a secondary school in Warrington for eight years, then Bedford- shire where she eventually ran two middle schools.

Having decided with her husband to retire to Cyprus, Susan took early retirement in 2017 and joined the P3A. She continues to work part time: tutoring, exam marking and invigilating for the British Council in Cyprus.

Susan co-runs the History group, walks with the Monday group and enjoys both Saturday and Sunday lunch clubs.

Ros Sparrow - Website Officer

After graduating from Cambridge, Ros worked in the Diplomatic Service, first in London, then Brussels, Singapore and South Korea. Her roles were mainly in public affairs/export promotion.  

In 2004 she and her husband David settled in Cyprus, where they have pursued interests in nature research, photography and book writing.

A former P3A Membership Sec. and then Chair, Ros also helped lead the Natural History Group from 2011 - 2018, and assists David in leading the Dragonfly Study group.  

Simon Welch - Groups Coordinator

Born in London, Simon spent his working life in retail banking, latterly as a project manager for multi-stakeholder, industry led changes to payment systems. After taking early retirement, he and his wife moved to Thailand (where their family live) for 5 years, moving to Cyprus in 2015 where both are very happily settled, and joined P3A soon thereafter.

Simon leads the Military History and Play Reading Groups, as well as being a member of several other groups. Other non P3A interests include writing, theatre (he met his wife when both were cast in a play) politics and gardening.
